With 60 carefully cultivated acres of land serving as the grounds for fabulous gardens of all types, Toledo Botanical Garden provides ample room for all visitors to enjoy natural beauty, whether relaxing in a solitary corner of the gardens or surrounded by others on tour. Spaces like the Shade Garden and Aquatic Garden offer gazebos and benches for quiet conversation, sketching or observing while areas like the Pioneer Garden, Vegetable Garden and Herb Garden are commonly used for educational purposes. There are many gardening events and classes specifically intended for children and families, helping to inspire a love of nature in youngsters and adults alike. The gardens are located a few miles west of the University of Toledo, beside the fascinating Blair Museum of Lithophanes.
